VIR Turn 6 PanoTurn 6 at VIR. This station is a great place to flag. Action abounds, especially in the wet! You can see the front straight into Turn 1 and into Turn 3. The “Lodge” can be seen right across from the station. “Digger” the Groundhog and his family lives and plays in the tire walls between Turn 5 and the bridge.

vir-turn-1-pano-small

Ok, I’m getting back to this blog “thing”. Still trying to figure out how best to “show off” the panos I put together at random times, of random places.

I guess I should begin with Turn 1 at VIR (Virginia International Raceway www.virclub.com).

NASCAR Martinsville April 1982

Posted in Racin on December 21st, 2008 by Mo

I recently bought a “cheep”  film/slide scanner and have been digging negatives & slides out of the basement as the whim strikes me (THEN the whim has to strike me to actually scan them ….). Here are some pics I took at a NASCAR Martinsville race in April of 1982. During the race, I “worked” my way to a position between the pit road exit and the front stretch. I had cars coming at me on both sides! A “Security” person (finally) noticed me ans “suggested” that I come back to a “safer” place. Thank goodness for “astute” security people.

Signage … art?

Posted in art, Corel, CorelDraw, Photo-Paint on December 17th, 2008 by Mo

From time to time I have/feel the need to produce a piece of art(?) that somewhat resembles a highway sign (“Flagger Ahead”).

I just stumbled across a link (http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/ser-shs_millennium_eng.htm) to the Federal Department of Highways sign manual. This document shows all the signs you may see along the road and gives dimensions.

Sorry, just had to share this UPI (“Useless Piece of Information”) with the world … I think this kind of info is neat.

Hello world!

Posted in test on December 8th, 2008 by Mo

Hey,

This is my first attempt at blogging. I reached this point by desiring to have a conduit to display my various panorama photographs to the world. Panoramas are a collection of overlapping pics taken from a common point, by rotating the camera around a  fixed point (“nodal”). The collection is then processed using stitching software and further processing to display the panorama using various “viewing” programs.

This is a VERY simplistic explanation of the panorama generating process.

I’m more experienced in producing panoramas than I am at blogging, but not by much. I get bored just doing 4 or 5 things at a time … sigh ….

So, get me back your feedback. If I like it, I’ll leave it here for the world to see how much I need help. If I don’t like it, I’ll delete it …. ahhh, the power.
